Hi Everyone

Just a question.I been looking to get a cheap tablet. I been checking these out http://www.praimaging.com.au/d1266-91-wacom-bamboo-fun-medium-6x9-tablet.html. Has anyone used one before?

Cheers

You get what you pay for. It's a Wacom it will be good.

But if you are using it for drawing / design work then consider a larger tablet with a better resolution as you will need it. Its worth saving for the better tablet as they last a long time. (on second tablet in 12 years, only because of OS driver issues.) The tablet if looked after will last longer than your mice, keyboards and computer.

I would recommend the Wacom Intuos 3 PTZ 930 (9" x 12")

Wacom or bust I think. The main issue is reliability and with that in mind I'd definitely choose an Intuos. The Graphire's feel less sturdy than the intuos, and i can only assume the Bamboo's are even worse.

The intuos pen is also much nicer.

I want a cintiq :(

+1 for wacom, anything else is murder :)

Deffinately get a intuos over graphire and i'll echo everyone else again when i say, save and get a decent sized one, because you're probably going to wish you purchased the bigger one after a few months of use.

If you've got the money, CINTIQ :P or perhaps DUAL CINTIQ? :)

I bought a cheapie for $300 that was a UC-Logic... and it doesn't even work... i am really annoyed because I have some illustration work to finish and now I have to go through the rigmarole of sending it back for a refund etc... I tried to save some $ but now, if I can get a refund on this, I'll spring the $600 for a WACOM instead.

Wacom tablets for the win. Great quality and very reliable. Only problem is the money, depending on what size you get, they are quite costly from what I remember.

Not really in real terms they have come down in price over the years.

Just to put the final word in. I have used all sorts of tablets over the years and I think WACOM win. I think the new bamboo are really average. I have owned a Cintiq (which broke - no fault of the equipment though) and still have an Intuos.

I prefer the Cintiq because I like to pick up the pad and move it around like a sheet of paper (and see what you are drawing right there on the screen), very hard to remember where you are with an Intuos (as in you take the pen off the pad and need to put it down again in the same place).

I think the Cintiq and Intous have about the same sensitivity and control I just cant justify spending that much money on another Cintiq... yet.

I know sfa about tablets other than the fact that I've only ever used a Wacom.

Which turns out to be a bit of the awesome, I'm seeing, as it appears that you don't want to muck with anything else.

So there you go, hock your car or a kidney and get the best.

Yeah get a Wacom thats decided. But if your budget doesn't allow an intuos I'm sure you will be happy with the graphire. I have used both, and for web design I find the Graphire is fine, 512 levels is more than enough for me.

I'm still using my old Wacom (blueberry)
it's about 15 yrs old and still works great.

If I had to buy another, I would get a bigger size.

I once owned a Wacom Graphire and it worked well as an alternative to a mouse. I was not doing design work. It lasted about 3 years. Not sure why it broke but it stopped working. I use a Wacome Intuos 3 9x12 at work and its too big for the work I do (web dev) but it feels solid.

Thanks for the tips about the Wacom Bamboo. Was thinking of getting a replacement for my broken Graphire but will stay away from the Bamboo.

I'd also recommend the Wacom Graphire or Intuos
