Hello all.

I'm new to this site and to Australia, having moved to Melbourne a month ago. So far... I love it :)

This is what I've launched recently:

http://www.rome-rentals.co.uk

Apart from general comments on the design, IA, errors, etc... I'm interested to know if it's a site, a business, that you would trust.

I built it using Textpattern. Any other txp fans out here?

Cheers,

Lawrence

Hey Lawrence,
It looks like your link is broken.

I am guessing he meant home-rentals not rome - replace the r with an h :)

See what happens when you spend 16 years in the UK!

Hi Lawrence - now we have the correct site up a couple of things that stood out for me:

1. Love the quirky picture in the middle -think it is great
2. Found the site overwhelming and busy at first (more to do with the type/font - I think)
3. You can do a bit more with the title tags to get some search engine love
4. The submit query button next to the where would you like to stay has the ry letters cut-off on IE8
5. Is there a need to repeat where you would like to stay in the main body copy (that way you avoid a scroll to featured apartments)
6. Did not like the date control in the book this apartment
7. Not a fan of Times new Roman - but I guess when in Rome..

Site seems trustworthy and I would certainly use it if I go to Rome on holiday

I agree that it seems a bit overwhelming and busy and that it's probably due to the font.
That Submit Query button is also cut of in Firefox 3.0.8.
Apart from that I'd probably use the site too.

Don't make us do a typeface intervention :)

Thanks for the feedback :)

I think the homepage can be improved considerably. It is very busy and the risk is that the main propositions are not obvious.

I'm thinking adding a strip under the main image with links to the three main section of the site. These would stand out as the main navigation elements of the site.

Much of the busy-ness has a purpose. Or I hope it has - content to be fed to the search engines. So I'll focus on the part above the fold to sell the idea and get people clicking through and push the busy stuff further down.

Thanks,

Lawrence

PS It's Georgia :)
