Hi All

This particular site goes live officially on Thursday the 14th but I thought I would post a link here to get a heads-up from you if there are area's for improvement or if there is something is wrong with the site so that we can tidy it up before it launches officially.

The site is actually an online course module (due to funding cut-backs the instructor led course has been re-factored for online) - It was interesting using the CMS to create an online course module, complete with random did you know's and learning area specific quizzes.

Check it out http://ea.volunteeringwa.org.au/ and post or pm feedback to me.

Cheers

Looks pretty nice

I found the navigation a bit confusing with the boxes labelled 1-4... it implies there's going to be a 4-step process, but upon clicking "1" i get no option to continue to "2", so i was left clicking back and choosing a new box.

It looks like it matches up to the LHS nav but the numbers are missing and the names don't always match up.

Thanks Ben - You are so right - I did not even consider that as I never used it to navigate from but as a first time user you are spot on - that is what people would expect!

not trying to poke holes, just clicking about and letting you know what i find. :)

couple more...

the presentation of the government / DSC logos on the homepage is a bit rough. i expect that's to fit in with their standards (must be on-white ?), and the youtube video needs a title or something.

some of the quiz questions are getting bumped under their radio buttons (FF 3.0.8 PC). also, submitting the quiz takes me back to the top of the page, not to the answers.

Nice and clean Ashul, well done to your crew :)

Under FF3, the spacing in the left hand menu between the top level node and the first child node is too close.

Hi Ashul
Looks clean and uncluttered, which I like.
Just noted that the Text size option is a nice add on, however, if I need the really large text, then I'm not going to see those options as they're really small.
Also, I have astigmatism, so it's more difficult for me to read light text on a dark background. It's only slight, so I can still read it, just have to concentrate harder.
Cheers

Minor point

How do you close the lightbox video div when you no longer want to watch the video off the home page.

Oh I have to use a mouse and click outside of the focus window.. I would put a close button in there...

humm no CC. :) no keyboard access to video controls. All possible to do by the way.

Ben - thanks for your comments have included your input in the final release only downside is that the question answers JS anchor only works on IE - FF does not seem to like it.

Dave - thanks will look at the spacing

Natalie - I am astigmatic as well - borrow a leaf from my wife who is an optom and she always tells me - wear your glasses ;)

Gary - That video is another matter all together totally agree with you - I actually wanted to drop it esp since there was no CC and we are constrained by youtube wrt to controls within the video, but the esc key should work to get out of it? Please let me know if it does not.

Thanks heaps guys - the launch was a success and the DSC were extremely happy with us so lots of pats on the back and hopefully the module will actually help those volunteer managers that want to enhance access..

No esc key working here - FF 3.0x - first thing I tried. :)

Also you can overlay controls on the video with javascript and emulate the buttons via keyboard.
