Does anybody know of a site that will let me do 'inverted' photosharing?

So, instead of me uploading photos for others to see, others upload photos for me to see. But in a way so I'm the only one signing up for an account, not everybody else. I can't ask 80 wedding-guests to sign up to Flickr.

so you want this:

- anyone can upload
- only you can view

is that right?

Yes, that's it. Allthough, not anyone, ideally they need a link from me to be allowed uploading. But that's just a nice-to-have.

Sort of like Flickr's sharing of private pictures to non-flickr members.

It is certainly possible but I don't know of any existing service. You could quite easily set it up yourself. You'd want to secure the site and the upload form itself. Password + form validation to restrict upload to img files only, less than a certain size, etc.

I'm just wondering if you're over-thinking it though. When I got married (oh, so many years ago..) friends and family just sent through photos as email attachments or on burned dvds when they felt like it.

It was enough of a miracle that everyone bothered to rsvp in the manner I dictated! I'm not sure anyone would have bothered to follow specific instructions for uploading images.

Sharepoint has a function whereby you can set up a module to receive emails with attachments and the attachments are automatically added to the folder. Obviously you won't have Sharepoint, but I'm suspecting something like that would be ideal.

you could just sign up for flickr as "photosofmywedding" - set it to "only viewable by me" and give out the user/pass to whoever you want to upload?
