So I've had confirmation today on our venue (the lovely Central Institute of Technology have come through again for us) and within 30 minutes of putting out the call, we had some wicked sponsors come on board.
Therefore ladies, gentlemen and spam bots (though hopefully there's less of you now), I give you BarCamp Perth 4.0 (http://barcampperth.org).
Signup to the mailing list for now, the full site is still coming together along with some other details (like times, though there won't be much movement there)
Oh, and probably most importantly, mark April 10 2010 in your diary to be at the Central Institute of Technology!

Am I the only one who, after looking at the website, still has absolutely no idea what this is all about? Drinking beer? At camp? Perhaps only for barristers?

hey nebbian,
my apologies - the full site is hopefully launching monday that covers things in more detail - a quick google turns up some answers though.
BarCamp is a conference organised by people who are interested in sharing ideas. It looks to network groups of people together with common interests and share information and ideas. You do not necessarily have to work in the fields covered, just show an interest.
It is not a traditional conference and usually runs on an open grid format, with presenters choosing a timeslot during the day when they arrive, usually 30 minutes long.
Topics at BarCamp range from things like "an intro to ruby on rails" to "omg, lol, social networking ftw" and things like people talking about how they are developing hardware to help autistic children learn.
hopefully you signup to the list and we can give you more information including details on when the new site has launched.
cheers,
Matt

Yes this is an issue, and the problem barcamp events have, they can become very clique (not mattman's intent), so the site really needs a paragraph of explanation.
Or alternatively

There has been a change in name to these barcamp events in some parts of the world, I know a lot of UK ones are now calling them by town names, so the Perth one can be PerthCamp. There was a big one in London that focused on Social Media and was called the London Social Media Camp, but all still retain the flame? logo
