At this month's RoRo meetup some folks were throwing around the terms SASS and HAML. After having a brief explanation I hit the interwebs and was totally blown away by how clean they make code.

It turns out that there are some OSS witch doctors out there who have written extensions to Wordpress that allow you to intermix HAML (http://github.com/dxw/wp-haml) and SASS (http://www.ohloh.net/p/sass-for-wordpress) as part of your template.

I'm already on a honeymoon with Wordpress and Blueprint CSS and have found that SASS and HAML can now be thrown into the mix to make templating even faster. Has anyone made use of this? I would love to hear stories from anyone who's been intermixing frameworks and solutions like this.

Also, if you have any comments/tips/violent reactions regarding Blueprint, HAML and SASS individually I'd love to hear from you as I'm only just starting out in them.

Cheers!

I don't know anything about wordpress, but I love the haml & sass.

layout systems like blueprint and 960 can be hugely simplified with sass. (example (http://gist.github.com/235739)).

It also removes the non-semantic crap from your html (like class="grid_2").

you can use it like this...

haml:

#header Oh I am a header

sass:

#header
color: red
+columns(4)
+rows(2)
