Gabby's site and his promotion seems to fit perfect into that.

Fair enough Gabby should have posted in the advertising section or used some of his tools to discuss and demonstrate SEO / Marketing techniques.

Self promotion is fine when it's a by product of a useful discussion. Hence AWIA members can have signature links etc. Threads solely for promotion are not interesting to the community.
