Friday, 18th of June, 10 in the AM.

Okay, you've had me waffle on about it before, so I don't need to tell you how awesome it is to sit and have good coffee and even gooderer cake with like-minded-small-business-hey-I-have-a-client-for-you-type folks.

Adam's (zeroedin) even suggested we do a roundtable-style sort of "Hey, I do neat things" introduction and I think that's a fine idea. Provided people aren't a half-hour late... like half of you were last time. *coughslackerscough*

So yeah, this is shaping up to be a pretty cool monthly thing.

Come along pass out the business cards that'll make magic things happen in your world. Or just the ones that you got 3 years ago because they were cheap and you needed SOMEthing, they work too. Heh.

Just thinking this would be a good opportunity for everyone to either develop or improve their "elevator pitch".

I'm sure most people know what one of those are, but for those who don't: It's pitching/pimping your whole business in under a minute. Who you are, what you do/offer. It could leave a positive lasting impression.

The theory goes that if you were leaving a meeting and somebady asked you what you do, you have only the length of time it takes an elevator to go from the board room level to the ground floor to sell yourself. Hense, "elevator pitch".

I know mine needs a lot of work

Good idea elevator pitches are always worth while. Best to a have few. One for non industry people, and one a industry people at least.

this maybe of interest I have an old post on just this topic (http://manwithnoblog.com/2010/01/10/effective-freelance-networking-the-opening-pitch/)

*BUMP*

Ever seen those movies where the cool guy comes into the bar and hip checks the jukebox and it jars it just enough to start playing "Bad to the Bone"?

Yeah, pretend I just did that.

See you at the Opal!

Well I'll just try and bump this thread a little more often.

Shoot for the 3rd Friday of every month and tell your usability reports to die already.

Time for another dose of coffee and cake goodness. Too late for this week I think though. Perhaps next week Mr. Jexley?

Ah. Ah yes. We shall see. I'm afraid I've only just delagged my jets, so clarity of thought is something that resides in my coffee cup.

Now, a very special co-incidence has occurred that can save us from the ingnominy of defeat. It's called 5 Fridays in one month! We can have an event next week... whaddya reckon? (If so, new thread please.)

Can do Thursday next week but not Friday.

Does that actually work for anybody else or do we push it back another week?

Why not do lunch for this.

I'm happy to do lunch, but the mid-morning coffee thing has worked really well so far and I'm hesitant to mess with that.

I'm a freelancer what do you think? ;) Clients can wait. Coffee and cake gimme gimme gimme!

Why not do lunch for this.

Is there any harm in doing both? Perhaps another event?

All of the above are fine by me.
