Embedded software development company seeks highly experienced PHP
developer with good archaeological skills. (I.e. you must be good at understanding existing code bases even if they are hard to fathom.) Requirements (commercial experience) + 3-5 years' PHP development + at least 2 years' JavaScript development including AJAX + at least 1 year's Smarty development + at least 2 years' database design and SQL query development + at least 1.5 years' Object Oriented design (in PHP preferred) + at least 1 year's Software Engineering, at a design level (including creation of design documents) Selection and integration of JavaScript libraries highly regarded Knowledge of Linux highly regarded, especially IPC Ability to create automated test suites highly regarded Knowledge of SQLite desirable Commercial usage of Bugzilla desirable Usage of TWiki desirable If selected, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the "front end" of an embedded system that is in use around the world. (This includes bug fixes, enhancements and code refactoring.) The candidate will also be involved in the process of documenting the existing system. In the medium-term, the candidate will work closely with other software developers in modifying the front end code to work with a new version of the "back end". The candidate will also interact with sales-support staff, QA staff and 3rd-party integrators. The candidate will be required to adhere to company policies & procedures, and work without supervision. A willingness to learn is essential, as is a demonstrated ability to comprehend the structure of existing medium-sized code bases.
