Drafting a press release for the Association about this. Are you noticing changes in what designers are delivering to clients? How is the site you design today different to two years ago?

Blurry colourful backgrounds is the latest trend.

Seems everything looks more Portally lately. Like a window into some beautiful place where people are cool and have just-the-right-amount of stubble. Usually some sort of larger image in the middle of the page, not necessarily a background.

I think we'll see more animation and movement plus greater engagement/interactivity via hooking in with mobile technology, geolocation and these blasted social networks.
As an example of what I am talking about see the brilliantly conceived and produced http://www.brandongenerator.com/ (NB Don't be overly put off by the "works best in IE9" front page as the project is for MS Internet Explorer - so take that with a grain of salt - the site works perfectly for me in Safari... I think we'll see more of this... the lines between movies, tv, apps etc will continue to blur. |

That thing is really, really cool. It's not a warning about which browser to use either, it's a blatant push to use Windows 7 and Internet Explorer, given that both are listed prolifically on the site as producers.
Still though, if they make cool stuff like this, then it's only a matter of time before somebody does it that's NOT a megalomaniacal brutishly huge corporation bent on global domination. Could be YOU even.
