Heya there,
Just noticed there was a big both venue and time change for the event tonight. I was really looking forward to coming but there's a big difference between 5.45pm start and 6.30pm start on a normal week night and this may well deal-break it for me as I can't get there before 7.45pm so makes it potentially not worthwhile. There doesn't seem to be chitter about the change on forums. Just outta curiosity why-for the change? Also out of curiosity, is there a reason why you don't use online events tools like "eventbrite" and "meetup.com" (though the latter costs money now so has become less attractive)? Hopefully will make it tonight! I'd look forward to meeting the community in Perth. Elena |

Hmm apparently the forum is not as lively as initially hoped nor suggested.
Now I find this: http://www.webindustry.asn.au/news-a...on-august-1st/ I wonder how deep the coincidence of these events is? I think it might be "quite" and have already this month inadvertently turned up to one meeting that was advertised as public that turned out to being an AGM. Maybe maybe maybe. |

Hey elena,
Welcome to the Port80 forums, sorry they're quieter than you'd hoped. This link: http://forums.port80.asn.au/search.php?do=getnew will get you new posts, where you'll undoubtedly run into things like: http://forums.port80.asn.au/showthread.php?p=109020 - Where we announce the time, location, streaming and meetup link. Or here: http://forums.port80.asn.au/showthread.php?t=14523 where you'll see the same information about venue and whatnot. We've been at Spacecubed for the last 3 Port80's at least, so I'm not positive what venue change you're referring to, other than that one. My advice is to go to webindustry.asn.au and sign up for the newsletter and potentially use the forum tools here to subscribe to this particular forum so you'll get notified of anything that's upcoming and/or changing. We've also got a Facebook group that's quite active: http://www.facebook.com/groups/2354348759/ And our Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/Port80-Perth/ which is quite active as well. About the only thing quiet online for AWIA is our Twitter and this forum (though we announce all events here), but we do try our damnedest to keep people up on things and coming to our events. So, if you hit upon any of the above, you're all-but-certain to get yourself into the mix and getting to know the Perth Web Community, fo' sho'. Hopefully see you at the next one! -Judd

Wow jexley! Thanks for the response! I'll follow up on those things
![]() Gosh and in hindsight I've got no idea where I got the idea of the event being held in Mt Lawley. For the record we did go to the building last night but could not find a way in. Whilst quite confident that it was the right building, there didn't seem to be a way in or any signs or any contact facilities. Next time perhaps. Totally spewing that we couldn't make it in. You need a sign or a buzzer of some kind! |

GAH! We forgot the sign!
So sorry, that's poopootimes. We're working on how to deal with that, but yeah, our bad. Sucks you couldn't make it in. And yeah, Mt Lawley at the Scotto was a couple years back I reckon.

Sorry Elena, my fault about the sign. Totally forgot this time. The building has security and won't budge on closing the door at 6PM. Normally we have a sign with a mobile number on it.
