Default Web Mixed grill. BYO hints and tips

Summer is here, the cricket is on twitter and we have changed our desktop backgrounds to a picture of the beach - to celebrate, the Australian Web Industry Association is warming up the BBQ and throwing together the Web Mixed Grill to showcase some of the bright minds the Australian web community has.

If you think you are a bit of an expert on a topic and like the idea of writing up some hints and tips for your fellow web-types, then send your proposals to us, and we'll publish one a day during the lead up to Christmas.

It doesn't need to be an essay (it's better if it's not) - and anything to do with the web is fair game. So go on - show us what you know!

If your interested, we'd love to hear from you - email mixedgrill (at) webindustry.asn.au with questions, suggestions and those articles.

Edit: Fixed the email address

Hey Myles - please explain

Are you after:
Recipes for the BBQ for summer survival or
How to not get sun burnt watching the test or
How to guide to integrating your ecommerce system to your accounting system using web services?

Any three would be fine, although number 3 would probably more on topic

So I take that as you are volunteering?

PS. This forum is moderated, so if your post doesn't appear straight away that is why

I'm in, but I'm not very smert, and you'll probably want articles on something smart.

I'll put the kibosh on sniffing glue this weekend and rock with something hard core.

Just to append, we'd like the hints/tips to preferably be non-backend language specific so everyone can get use out of them

We have a few (6) volunteers so far but we'd definitely like some more to fill the empty days - you have our email - mixedgrill (at) webindustry.asn.au

I've submitted my article, and hope to see others share their wisdom. We have an amazing crowd of talent in these forums and as members, it'll be great to see what some of them come up with.

Thanks to Matt Didcoe for the hard work managing it all too - well done!

Miles.

And on the first day of Christmas, we have for you Miles Burke, AWIA Chairperson and author of The Principals of Successful Freelancing (released December 9, launched this week at the Port80 Perth Christmas Soiree) posing the question - "Are You Freelance Material?".

Many thanks to Miles and Judd who have contributed so far, look forward to getting more articles in soon!

So we've reached day five where Gary Barber is sharing his design process in Overcoming Design Panic.

Thanks to the contributors so far:
  • Miles Burke (miles)
  • Myles Eftos (madpilot)
  • Judd Exley (jexley)
  • Nick Cowie (nickobec)
  • Gary Barber (tuna)

I'd strongly urge you to visit the Mixed Grill website - http://mixedgrill.webindustry.asn.au and read what they've spent some time working on, then go and write your own because we still need content!
