Default User Experience (UX) Bookclub PERTH!

Yes Perth is getting its own UX bookclub.

What is a UX bookclub you ask, well from the UX book club site -

Quote:
The UX Book Club seeks to enhance the abilities and knowledge of user experience professionals from information architects and interaction designers to visual designers and usability specialists to augment their understanding for excellence in UX practice, ixd design theory while building a passionate local community.

Subjects of interest to this club span design theory, design research and user experience research practices and processes. The books include the strategy and business of design, UX design theory and history, methodology, usability research, and the ethics of UX professionals, while networking and having some fun….
Basically we pick a book, read it then meet back and discuss it. Simple really and a lot of fun!

And you don't have to understand UX to contribute!

Sign up if you are interested here

If you're a webdesigner, web developer, content strategist, IA, software developer or anyone who is interested in why people do stuff and how you can make your stuff better you'll get value from the uxbookclub.

If you're worried about the cost, don't be. Magic sponsorship fairies will help us read cool books for free or super cheap. (So if you're interested in free stuff you should join too.)

The uxbookclub is a fantastic opportunity and I'm prepared to resort to silly bribes to get you to come and contribute to the community. So um, join up and I'll make lots of my famous cupcakes. Or something.

We're still in the very early stages of planning the book club..but more than happy to take book suggestions!

Sounds great, what sort of frequency do you think the meetings will be? Sometimes I think it would be a lot handier for me to live closer to Perth!

If the locations end up a reasonable walk from the train line, it shouldn't be too bad for us though you'd still have a 45 minute drive to get here.
