Default Jexified Double Whammy

Hey kids,
As some of you well know, I've been tinkering with SEO Tools and other fun stuff for a while now and I've finally decided to take the big step and launch this bitch.

www.jexsolutions.com is like, some DIY SEO for web geeks and SEO Isn't Hard for non-geeks. I hope. What I was shootin' for anyway. "SEO Tools and Services" is the official tagline. I also just realised that I haven't repointed jexsolutions.com.au yet either (DUMBASS) so don't go there.

Okay, so get on there and check it out and let me know what you think. Also, if you're keen, sign up and see how the actual functiony stuff functions, it's neato and frequently breaks!

OH! I almost forgot. I redid the Jex Analytics site as well. www.jexanalytics.com.au and I used a real designer's real design too, so I won't feel bad if you bag anything on that one. Unless they stole it, then that's a-paddlin'.

K, so that's all my business sites out there for open critique. Be firm, yet gentle. Not like that! Pervert. The other way. Good.

Best feedback wins 6 months membership on Jex Solutions... GO!

Jex Analytics

1) watch the contrast.. grey on white can be a killer
2) throw white space between the circular logo and "Perth, Western Australia"
3) where is the rest of the page the letters cut off all over the shop... yes this is outside what people are expecting.
4) oh those arrow things do something. PITA I have to press or mouse over them to read the text..
5) the contact form looks unfinished.
6) form, what is the red * for!
7) Field label - verify - verify what?
8) other fields name -my name???
9) you really need to read my blog post on form design dude
10) search on "asdasdsa" - the design breaks..
11) comment form on blog is a different inconsistent layout to the contact form
12) Judd - do I dare print this site?
13) link in footer blue bar are not active.
14) Recent Haps??
15) the vertical rhythm is shot on the site.
16) lots of white space around all over the shop!

Still I like the blue, not a fan of the menu and the roll over dropdowns.

I expect them to be sober when they look at it though.

They do, but only because I haven't figured out how to work it with a scrollbar on the left, or some other similarly hard-to-do solution.

That's because it is. It's also some plugin I got for WP because I didn't make my own for a change.

Verify that you're Gary and angry at forms.

If you're printing things off my site I'm worried about your drinking.

Yeah, I didn't want them active yet because I... um... okay I forgot.

Word yo. It's like the "cool" way of saying "Recent Events" or "Recent Blog Entries"... plus it's the only thing that would fit.

That's because I was listening to Beatles music at the time. Some of their stuff is fked for vertical rhythm.

Don't be racist.

HA!
In all seriousness, thanks mate, for honest and straightforward (detailed and valuable if not drunken) feedback. This is where it starts, where I start in on that list of "Things that need fixed that I probably should've found my own but was too lazy so I put it on Port 80 and made Tuna do it."

You're a rocking star.

K, I buy you drink things if you go back. Coffee? Beer? Yak Urine? Shoosh, it's a delicacy in some cultures.

Sorry! Fixing! I was busy earlier being a smartass to Tuna.

*bump*

Now offering explicit services in exchange for reviews. You heard me, you give feedback I give you a Thai Foot Massage.

And by "Thai" I mean "beer" and by "Foot Massage" I mean "maybe two beers".

Heh.

Also, as per Tuna's dissection, ignore Jex Analytics site and tell me things about Jex Solutions, p-p-p-p-please?

LOL I'll bite!!! Normally this would be very detailed with solutions, you get the quick and dirty, you want the real thing contact me, we can do a deal...

Jex Solutions

Technical Design issues
  • Menu wraps on screen less than 1200px
  • Better contrast on drop down menu needed, improve the hover state too..
  • 1995 called it wants it's drop shadow back!!
  • out of focus screen shots are not good!!

Usability / UX issues

Overall
  • I don't feel motivated or inspired to even look in the site.
  • I feel like you are in control of the site not me...
  • - way too much text... you are waffling in places,
  • Site is marketing the wrong way, its all focusing on the wrong elements,
  • Services and tool subs need to be up front, The free pricing too up front.
  • The design is dated.. I had to check it wasn't 1995..

Home page
  • Intro text - TOO long, no one will read that
  • You have not told me in five seconds what you do...
  • don't use login - sign in is better.
  • Signup / register (huh whats that difference)
  • No clear call to action....

  • I expected a form... I get more damn text to read!!!
  • WTF I have to go to a registration form.
  • Too many hoops, Signup > registration > login. Have it go straight to login.
  • registration page - list of what to do.. so do I have to do this manually, leaves bad feeling, point 6 - unprofessional

login / register
  • the logo, tone it down its such that I can't read the fields.
  • Username - why use this!! so you want me to supply a username to use (thats not clear)
  • Email - see above...
  • Website - WTF do you need this so - again see above
  • use sexy inline validation
  • All the forms need a bit of work.. (one slab please)
  • blue text on logo = can't read.

All SEO Tools pages and SEO Services

All the same issues here
  • out of focus images
  • bad layout out of text
  • No clear decision path
  • case study would help too.

There are more issues... Sorry Judd.. fix these issues and it will be shit hot. You owe me 2 beers.
