I've just had a graphics person re-design a site for a client www.computermechanics.com.au. After the re-design it's loading very slowly in Internet Explorer. Is this something to do with the fonts? Can someone suggest a way of reducing the page loading time? Any advice appreciated.

Um, this site uses font tags and tables for layout. It was redesigned in which century?
I can't comment on the page load time, but there are no fonts actually defined for a lot of the headings. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like in my Firefox: ![]() Yes, my default font in Evil Genius. There's nothing odd about that.

It's slow in IE because it's trying to download 20 odd true type fonts, whereas in Firefox it only downloads a couple.
Why it does that in IE I'm not sure.

interesting
so IE downloads all of the fonts specified here: http://www.computermechanics.com.au/fonts/font.css while FF loads only the ones used in the current page? Brett I'd suggest you remove all of the custom fonts. It will be speedy and I promise the site will not look worse.

If it is the font, then look at the way the download is declared. Use http://www.fontsquirrel.com/ to generate it - they do a much better job of handling all the exceptions has hacks.
